it’s 09 debs week! and we’re starting off with
aprilynne pike, who debuted at number 6 on the
new york times bestsellers list with her first novel, wings.
it then leapt to NUMBER ONE! last week. nothing short of
amazing! i had the pleasure of reading wings
while on holiday in the uk–a sweet engaging story not
without some great twists and a favorite scene of mine
at the climax. (i shan’t give spoilers!)
Aprilynne Pike’s WINGS is the first of four books about
an ordinary girl named Laurel who discovers she is a
faerie sent among humans to guard the gateway to Avalon.
When Laurel is thrust into the midst of a centuries-old battle
between faeries and trolls, she’s torn between a human and a
faerie love, as well as her loyalties to both worlds.

1. who is your literary character crush?
*Is ashamed to be so non-unique* I adore Mr. Darcy
in Pride and prejudice. Of course, that may have
something to do with the yummy Colin Firth playing
him in the movie. :)
2. who is your author crush? (does not have to
Neil Gaiman. The man writes like I can only dream of.
Stardust is one of my very favorite books ever.
omg, i never knew! you’ve great taste AND he’s mine! =D
3. what is your favorite pastry?
Croissants. Hands down. You can do so much with them!
stuff them with cheese, drizzle them with chocolate, fill
them with vanilla custard, or just serve piping hot!
yum, great choice! tho i do love my croissants filled
with almond paste or chocolate, for sure!
4. what is the favorite scene from your novel?
It really is a total spoiler, but when you eventually read it,
you will understand. I love my river scene. It was one of
those scenes that I knew from the beginning, was awesome.
I came out of my office after writing it and I was seriously
exhausted and sweaty. That scene took a lot out of me!
meep, this was my favorite scene too! the one i didn’t
mention in the intro. it’s fantastic!
thanks so much for joining us, aprilynne, and congrats
